Electron microscope

A powerful optical instrument, which uses a stream of electrons or X-ray radiation instead of light focused by electron lenses to throw shadows of opaque object on a fluorescent viewing screen or photographic plate in a manner similar to that, in which a stream of light is used in a common microscope.
