Ceylon alexandrite

In the late 1800's, a rough cat's-eye of over 700 carats was discovered and in 1930, the stone was shaped into a 465 carat cabochon.

This cat's-eye, named "The Eye of the Lion" is the largest in the world and represents one of the greatest gemstone finds in the history of Sri Lanka.
